MESC has been working with National SafaiKaramchari Finance Development Corporation (NSKFDC) for the skill development initiatives for the training & socio-economic upliftment of SafaiKaramcharis/ Scavengers and their dependents to inculcate self-reliance among the children, other dependants in safaikaramcharis’ families and to improve their living standards.
MESC in association with training partners are spreading the awareness in order to bring these sensitive categories into the mainstream. So far these candidates has been involved in sanitation occupation only, now it’s time to bring them to mainstream thereby providing skill development training for MESC Job roles like Makeup Artist, Hairdresser & Rotoartist.
Eligibility criteria for seeking financial assistance the beneficiary should be a scavenger or a safaikaramchari and their dependents identified through appropriate surveys. All those who could not be covered under the survey already conducted in this regard may obtain a certificate from a local revenue officer or an officer of local Municipal office among other authorities. No income limit is fixed for availing financial assistance under NSKFDC schemes.
NSKFDC has been providing financial assistance to the target group for any viable income generating activities. The main schemes are the term loan scheme under which loan up to 90 per cent of the projects costing uptoRs 10 lakh (Rs 1 million) is given.
In 2017-18 MESC conducted Training of around 400+ candidates of the same category thereby facilitated the placement for their better livelihood.
